Program areas at Burbank Arts for All Foundation

The Burbank Arts & Education Foundation (baef) is led by a board of directors of dedicated volunteers from across our community. We are parents, business leaders, civil servants, professional experts, and engaged residents who are passionate about supporting academic success, creativity, inclusion, and diversity for all Burbank unified school district (busd) students. We are committed to being solution partners with busd and the Burbank community, leading the organization with purpose and transparency and holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards.baef is uniquely positioned to partner with busd to support essential programs that are outside the scope of the state-provided budget. This can include academics, Arts, athletics, stem programs, student wellness, and educator professional development. Each dollar raised is carefully stewarded and applied based on recommendations from our board, district stakeholders, and community advisors. We publish regular impact reports to demonstrate accountability.baef 's fundraising focus included a fall campaign entitled "music for all" to raise funds to help ensure that every grade level in Burbank unified school district had access to music instruction. This campaign continued into a healthy end of year initiative with robust support. Baef continued to engage our community with special events and fundraisers such as "pizza and pedals" (a stationary bike "race") and a "dungeons and dragons"-themed competition designed to raise funds and bring awareness of our organization to potential community donors. We also participated in local community events such as holiday in the park, movie nights hosted by our credit union, and the city of Burbank national night out. Baef continues to cultivate our branding and awareness.in 2022, the Burbank Arts and Education Foundation (baef) grant program provided full funding for all submitted applications during the 2022 cycle, with investments made in mathematics, music, literacy, and art programs at Burbank unified school district (busd). This funding supported a variety of programs with a direct impact on thousands of students in grades tk through 12th. In alignment with busd, baef has made diversity, equity, and inclusion a part of its core mission. Busd encouraged teachers to think about classroom grants through a diversity and equity lens. The Burbank Arts & Education Foundation strongly believes that every child deserves a high-quality public Education. One of the key markers of that is elementary instrumental music instruction - for every student. Our mission is to help fill the gaps in Education funding and site-based parent fundraising. Baef was able to partner with the busd for the purchase of ukuleles, strings, and tuners for the seven elementary schools that did not have these instruments. Now every elementary school student will have instrumental music instruction district wide for the first time in decades. It is our hope that this is the beginning of an equity model that we may be able to follow in the future as needs are identified, and funding is available. Other highlights from the grant awards include elementary school Arts supplies and materials including a kiln, diverse classroom and library book collections, critical math intervention, school site safety, and mindful and adaptive seating options. Middle schools will benefit from block printing art supplies and materials, safety tools for busy drop off and pick up times, and site -wide professional development and curriculum in social and emotional learning. The high schools received funding for art studio seating, instruments and sheet music, and technology support for an athletic program. Investments were also made in digital cameras, musical instruments, social and emotional learning, diversity in book selection for libraries and classrooms, technology, professional development for teachers, classroom seating solutions, dance and theater programming, visiting artists, and art supplies.baef also prioritized community engagement in 2022. We hosted a dungeons and dragons event that brought in new donors to baef and reached a new community of supporters. Baef was also present at many community events across the city to engage the public and spread our mission. One highlight was the ume credit union encanto movie night that brought out Burbank families. Baef created a craft with the kids while sharing our mission with parents at this event. Another highlight was the Burbank holiday in the park event, which brings thousands of community members together, providing an opportunity to engage the community about our mission while increasing brand awareness. We grew our social media community by increasing interaction and posts on all platforms in which we participate.
