California Association of Environmental Health Administrators (CAEHA)

As one of its core services to local Environmental Health departments Caeha provides temporary staffing services through three types of contracts: direct independent workers; Caeha employees, and third-party service providers. This service has assisted many jurisdictions over the years and has brought in revenues to Caeha. As a 501(c)(4), Caeha is often able to enter into sole-source agreements with the contracting jurisdiction. In exchange for a small percentage fee on the contract, Caeha identifies and screens the contract worker, provides insurance as required by the contracting agency, and manages all aspects of the contract. Some Caeha contracts have been extended past a year, but since inception, most have been short term.

Caeha serves as the advocacy arm of the local Environmental Health departments and unified program agencies (cupas). As a practice, Caeha follows the formally-adopted positions taken by ccdeh and the cupa forum board on legislation, policy, and rulemaking pertinent to Environmental Health matters and it advocates in the California legislature and executive branch accordingly. The Caeha board reserves the right to review any such position and establish a different position, should it deem necessary, only after consultation with the ccdeh executive committee, the ccdeh executive director or cupa forum board.
