Program areas at California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom
Classroom support and teacher resources: the Foundation researches, develops and distributes resources and curriculum to teachers throughout California. Resources include "what's growing' on? ", an educational newspaper supplement for students in grades 3-8, of which about 70,000 copies are circulated to California schools; the "taste & teach" program which includes lesson plans and means for teachers to incorporate fresh fruits & vegetables in their curriculum; a second year of nutrition curriculum with newsletters & resources for fresno unified school district; the "super saturday" webinar for educators with hands-on activities to use in their classrooms; and the outstanding educator program which includes literacy for life grants to schools/teachers for ag education in the classrooms.
Other programs:the Foundation continues its legacy of contributing to the education of youth throughout California about the importance of Agriculture in a variety of other ways including supporting the pursuit of agricultural careers and continuing education, providing programs, inspiration, and training opportunities for educators, and partnering with like-minded organizations to create awareness about the significance of Agriculture in the everyday lives of californians.
Aitc conference:the annual aitc conference is designed for k-12 educators, administrators, and volunteers to come together to learn and share how to incorporate food and fiber into all curricular areas. From hand-on learning and workshops to engaging guest speakers and field trips, the 2-day event is an incredible way to learn how to bring Agriculture education into the Classroom.
