Calle 24 Latino Cultural District compassionately embraces the unique Latino heritage/cultures of 24th Street by creating a special use District in and/or around the San Francisco Latino Cultural District that establishes height limits and design guidelines that preserve the unique character of the District, while promoting, participating in, and supporting traditional culture-critical community events, such as carnaval, dia de los muertos, and the chavez holiday commemoration. They also identify and preserve cultural assets that exist in the district located in San Francisco, CA.

Health and wellness: Calle 24 actively supports community wellness by providing monthly health testing and screenings in collaboration with trusted health organizations and local partners. A cornerstone of this effort is the healthy first fridays initiative, held on the first friday of every month. This recurring event ensures that health resources are consistently accessible and available to residents of the Latino Cultural District. Healthy first fridays offers various health services, including blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, covid-19 testing, and flu vaccinations.
Arts & culture: Calle 24 proudly produced fiesta de las amricas, the most significant Cultural event within the Latino Cultural District. This vibrant celebration attracted over 3,000 community members and showcased the richness of Latino Cultural heritage and unity. The event featured a dynamic mix of live music, traditional dances, artisan vendors, & culinary delights that highlighted the diverse cultures of the americas. Fiesta de las amricas also served as a platform for local artists and performers, fostering creativity and Cultural expression. Through collaborative partnerships with community organizations and businesses, the event created an inclusive space for families, residents, and visitors to connect and celebrate the Cultural vitality of 24th street and the mission District.
Economic vitality: Calle 24 launched la placita with the office of economic and workforce development (oewd) as a cornerstone initiative to support local street vendors and bolster economic resilience in the Latino Cultural District. This innovative program was designed to provide a safe, organized, and vibrant space where street vendors could thrive while celebrating the Cultural richness of the mission District. La placita serves as a community hub where vendors, many of whom are small entrepreneurs or immigrant families, can showcase their crafts, foods, and services in a supportive and culturally significant environment. By creating a structured marketplace, Calle 24 fosters economic opportunities and strengthens connections between vendors, residents, and visitors.
