Arts in education: Calpulli Mexican Dance Company designs immersive arts-in-education experiences for individuals of all ages, physical abilities, and backgrounds using the rich artistic works of its touring company as the basis for learning. Passionate teaching artists-most of whom are Directors, Choreographers, and Performers with the company-lead workshops, residencies, and on-site performances that seek the same time customizing to meet the host's goals and cirriculum. Calpulli reaches over 80K students each year with its educational services and is sought after by schools, educators, colleges and universities, nursing centers, and performing arts venues. Community Outreach:As an extension of its arts-in-education services, Calpulli Mexican Dance Company created "Calpulli Community" in 2006 as a response to requests to provide continual access to the organizaions's expertise in the performings arts. With the same programming in New York and New Jersey that improve the lives of people, especially young students, through the power of the arts. Now, over 200 students at 5 different sites, each week learn about Mexican traditions in dance and music culminating with performances and events. Performances:Calpulli Mexican Dance Company's performances are like the traditions of Mexico: colorful, passionate and inviting. The organization produces performances and tours via its international touring company of Dancers, Musicians and Choreographers. The eleborate productions tell Mexican-American stories with universal messages that celebrate Mexico and its people. The Company has favorable reviews from the NY Times, Houston Chronical and Queens Tribune among others for its stories including "Boda Mexicana and its most current production "Puebla: The Story of Cinco de Mayo." which received the National Dance Project award from the New England Foundation for the Arts.
