Description
Campus Compact is a national coalition of nearly 1,100 colleges and universities committed to the public purposes of higher education. They are a network comprising a national office and 34 state and regional Campus Compacts. As the only national higher education association dedicated solely to campus-based civic engagement, Campus Compact enables campuses to develop students’ citizenship skills and forge effective community partnerships. Their resources support faculty and staff as they pursue community-based teaching and scholarship in the service of positive change.

Program areas at Campus Compact

Place-based: Campus Compact supports local projects that build the capacity of member campuses and their partners to effect change in their communities through Campus visits, convenings, and americorps programs. Americorps programs advance higher education's capacity to address critical needs by mobilizing campuses through national service. Compact's vista project focuses on anti-poverty programs that advance k-12 and higher education student educational attainment, economic mobility and job readiness, and food and housing security. The k2h civic futures program advances youth civic learning and engagement through higher education partnerships and enhanced programming in schools and community-based organizations.
Network support and health: efforts through affiliate network and directly with member institutions to convene, communicate, advocate, fund, and educate about higher education engagement and partnerships with communities. Provide infrastructure, training, and technical assistance for state and regional Compact offices in the areas of finance, database management, website development, graphic design, and organizational development to create and sustain a strong infrastructure and maintain a coordinated and strong network that advances civic engagement in higher education.
Field leadership: efforts that advance the public purposes of higher education nationwide. It includes awards for faculty engaged scholarship; our student civic leadership fellowship; research, writing, and convening focused on best practice and high-impact interventions; training institutes; our community engagement professional credential program; publications; national conference; and sub-grants members for programming that advances the quality and breadth of higher education engagement.
Communications - includes activities and functions that support our ability to share our story, our purpose, our resources, and information about the organization with our member institutions, state and regional affiliates, and external audiences. Communication expenses include: costs associated with our website; software for metings, gathering, and sharing information; graphic design; podcast and video production; and print materials.
