Canal Market District and Enterprise Hub

The Canal Market District and Enterprise Hub ("cmdeh") has met a number of important milestones this year. We completed the first season of a new farmers Market with 75 vendors over the course of the summer and fall. The farmers Market has been snap-accessible for low income consumers since its second week, and has participated in a snap matching program in the last two months of the season. This expands access to healthy, local food for those on a limited income. We have expanded our partnerships with volunteers and other community organizations to offer educational activities and live music at nearly every farmers Market. Cmdeh also hosted four local craft markets. After completion of a feasibility study, cmdeh has devoted significant resources to research in support of a new local foods aggregation and processing facility that will strengthen the local food economy in licking county. Finally, we have begun working with community groups to ensure that the Canal Market plaza, a public event space which cmdeh manages, is utilized for the benefit of the community as much as possible.
