Canal Society of Ohio

To gather, collect and preserve historical data pertaining to the Canal systems in the state of Ohio and elsewhere; to carry on educational activities to encourage the preservation and restoration of portions of the Canal systems still in existence; and to stimulate interest in schools and colleges in the historical heritage of the Ohio Canal systems; and to stimulate interest in the citizenry in general in such historical heritage. The organization offers tours of Canal sites (usually two tours each year) to enhance understanding of the history of canals.
