Senior Outreach Programs: Tuesday Lunch - A Congregate meal is served each week for around 50-60 senior citizens. This Tuesday gathering provides a nutritious meal as well as social opportunities for the elderly. Community Care Days: Spring Community Day was held in May, 2024 partnering with the CW High School football team. The boys go around and do mulching, weeding, yard work, and other outdoor projects for our local seniors. Fall Community Care Day in 2023 was a success! The Indians club and Renee Hamilton went out to rake leaves for our elderly senior citizens. Senior Prom: This years theme for senior prom was Back to the 80s! The senior citizens loved it and had a wonderful time. We partnered with Student Council to hold this event. There was music, food, dessert, and pictures for everyone to enjoy. This event is always well attended. Out to Lunch Bunch: Each month we drive our seniors to a restaurant for lunch. It is a great way to keep them socialized and out in the world.
Food Outreach - The Community Food Pantry served 6,957 people and provided 92,138 meals during FY24. We are a choice pantry, which means clients can choose the items that best suit their family. Clients can use us twice a month and if they utilize us for both visits, each person in the family will be provided with 30 meals. In FY24 113,246 pounds of food went out our doors. We also have a Market Day program which serves low income senior citizens that live at Davids Way/Canal Village. Market Day clients can come and shop once a week on Thursday. We also use our transportation vehicles to provide transporation to and from the food pantry. In FY24 46% of the residents used our services. Our Feeding our Future program is another food initiative specific to students in the Canal Winchester School District. Each week we deliver two days worth of meals to students that have signed up for the program. In the 2023/2024 school year we served around 129 students each week and provided 8,250 meals. We built two blessing boxs and placed one at our facility and one at the American Legion in Lithopolis to offer another way to access food.
