Program areas at Canopy Life International

The Organization provides grants to Canopy Life International Kenya to operate Canopy Life Academy. During 2023, Canopy Life International Kenya's accomplishments included the following:A. Our first High school graduate completed his senior exams in November 2023!B. We completed a master site plan and architectural design leading to the launch of a capital campaign to expand the campus. We also conducted a feasibility study with our donors to project the most accurate capacity of our network prior to launching the campaign. This campaign will be a three year project to raise funds for two additional residences, an additional academic facility, renovations to the current residence to repurpose it for the Spiritual and Counseling program and surrounding land. C. New Staff: We hired a new Academics Director and Financial Manager in Kenya as well as several new teachers to meet the requirements of serving junior high students under Kenya's educational reform standards.D. Hired a professional videographer to shoot our first Brand video with drone footage in Kenya. Unlike previous media, this video will provide evergreen content to share our story and mission. It has been widely and popularly received by our donor network. E. We launched a revenue stream on campus to provide wholesale water to the local community of Koma Hill Kenya from our campus borehole and provide a minimal revenue stream to the Kenyan organization. The project launched and is providing water to 100 homes. F. The Kenya management and some Board members were led through policy governance training by Graybeal and Associates, who also provided a policy governance refresh training to the US Board during the US Board retreat. As both Boards move towards a healthy model of policy governance, we expect the empowerment and impact to increase in the organization. G. Campus Projects in 2023: i. Completion of a chemistry lab in the Innovation room ii. Upgrades to living: lockable storage for students, new mattresses, mosquito nets and bedding iii. Additional laptops and furniture for new teachers
