Program areas at Capital City Pride
30 days of Pride: starting in 2020, Capital City Pride began providing a broader array of events that paired a wider array of the lgbt community with events held by community organizations, sporting events and businesses. Allowing more of the community to experience accepting and affirming experiences throughout the community. The strategy came about as a unique way to celebrate Pride while socially distant and allowing the community to celebrate in the way most comfortable. But its success has motivated Capital City Pride to make it a permanent part of Pride month celebrations.
Speaker series: speaker series is a year-long discussion series hosted by various community partners that provides a platform for members of the lgbt community to share their stories with other members of the community. It is very common for lgbt members to live believing they are alone. Speaker series allows out members of the community to provide affirmation to those who might feel alone.
Pridefest: the flagship event for Capital City Pride is a three-day celebration and commemoration of the struggle for lgbt equality. Capital City Pride provides festivities and entertainment for members of the lgbt community and their ally's. The three-day celebration culminates with a gathering and parade to commemorate the first Pride parade held a year after the stonewall riots.
