Capoeiradc

We increased our total number of students from 206 to 395 in 2023. There were 252 new clients with a 46% retention rate, and an astounding 90% retention rate of repeat clients. We have continued the teen-teachers-in-training to develop their leadership. We provided paid internships for 3 of them through dcs summer youth employment program. We added more capoeira classes, quarterly free community activity-days for the public, guest-teacher workshops, yoga and bj, and ran a pilot capoeira summer camp.we received several grants from the dccah that allowed us to offer free quarterly music, dance and capoeira festivals to the public and offer fully paid scholarships to 8 students . We also were awarded a grant from athleta that allowed us to give additional paid scholarships to more women and girls. We were also able to perform a major upgrade to our art space.we are thankful to the various grants that supported this effort
