Program areas at Captiva Community Panel
Planning, research and administrative support for the Captiva Community Panel in its efforts to update Lee County's Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Land Development Code as they affect Captiva Island. This includes monthly (or more) community meetings, community surveys, committee meetings, research and dissemination of information to island residents, property owners, businesses and visitors. This also included dissemination of county and public safety updates as the island recovered from the impacts of Hurricane Ian, which struck Sept. 28, 2022.
Research and studies into potential impact of stormwater management and sea level rise on Captiva island, including to properties, infrastructure and coastlines.
Research and information on island groundwater and nearshore water quality for potential septic system pollution and stormwater management, plus research and funded studies on wastewater collection and treatment alternatives for the island.
