Program areas at Care A R E Forward
New directions class - for high school students and their parents. This course is designed to develop an awareness of the medical, psychological and addictive risks of alcohol and other drug use. The real costs of substance abuse (legal consequences, physical harm, damaged careers and fractured families) are made evident. Subject matter experts and speakers in recovery are included in the program. New directions equips students and their parents with the understanding and skills to successfully navigate the high risk years of adolescence.
Care provides many classes for teens and young adults who get in trouble with alcohol or illegal drug use including the state mandated alcohol awareness class for minors, new directions and second chance. These classes vary in length from 6 hours to 30 hours and many are required for probation or school suspension sanctions. Care also provides speakers that present educational programs to various groups in schools, churches, scout groups or aftercare programs. Care also provides summer programming to day camps, ymca's and other youth organizations to their students about how to make good choices, healthy bodies and the dangers of alcohol and drug use for teens.
Care receives many phone calls, emails and walk-ins each week. We are able to give referrals to A wide variety of counselors or in/out-patient facilities. Interviews, pre-screenings and assessments may assist in determining what type of referral is needed. An in-depth clinical assessment is offered for $100 with our certified counselor on staff. Care assists schools in celebrating red ribbon week by educating students about the dangers of alcohol and other drug use, peer pressure and making positive choices. Each year, scholarhips will be awarded to deserving seniors who have demonstrated A commitment in their personal life to making positive choices regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs.
