Program areas at Caribbean Agroecology Institute
Building climate and socioecological resilience through Agroecology and food sovereignty in the Caribbean and the region. We do this by raising awareness about Agroecology advances and challenges in the region, facilitating partnerships, building capacity amongst stakeholders through research, exchanges, courses, conferences and workshops, amplifying voices internationally, and channeling resources and opportunities to our partners in the region. In 2022 this included: 1) organizing a symposium under the multiyear research initiative for the sustainable development of cuba (risdoc), 2) organizing material donations to farming families in the province of pinar del rio affected by hurricane ian to support recovery efforts, 3) the production of a documentary to raise awareness about cuba's Agroecology movement, 4) organized a 100+ person delegation to attend an international Agroecology encounter, 5) conducted research on Agroecology and tourism.
