Caring Contact is a listening community with a mission to promote emotional wellbeing and prevent emotional crises by providing opportunities for people to express themselves to compassionate listeners in a safe environment. They respond to the need for human interaction and create active listening care through a local number as well as the national suicide prevention lifeline. The hotlines are staffed by over 106 highly trained volunteers. In 2022, Caring Contact devoted more than its resources towards fulfilling its mission.

Program areas at Caring Contact

Caring Contact answers the 988 suicide & crisis lifeline for 7 counties in new jersey and also operates a general listening line for individuals needing support. Both the 988 suicide & crisis lifeline are answered by 92 highly trained listeners who worked over 10,000 hours in 2023 answering calls. Caring Contact supports communities by providing active listening, hotline awareness and suicide intervention training to organizations throughout northern new jersey.
