Program areas at Caritas
Emergency shelter - Caritas is a leading provider of inclusive emergency shelter to unaccompanied individuals in central Virginia providing food, shelter, housing assistance, and a pathway to self-sufficiency. Caritas serves more than 700 people annually.
Works- Caritas runs an intensive workforce development and life skills program for individuals with significant barriers to employment including homelessness, addiction, and felony convictions. More than 75% of works students leave the program employed and equipped to thrive in the community.
Furniture bank - Caritas accepts donations of new and gently used furniture, kitchenware, linens and basic household items at central Virginia's only furniture bank, which serves more than 650 households annually. Equipped with basic household goods, these families can dedicate their resources to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
The healing place women - Caritas operates a residential recovery program for women struggling with substance use disorders. The 120 bed facility includes a stabilization unit, recovery program, medical clinic, transitional program, after-care services, and an alumni association.
Recovery residences - Caritas provides stable housing at a reasonable cost in a sober living environment and utilizes resource connections to enhance individual support networks, employment opportunities, self-awareness, and self-esteem. Our close community provides a supportive environment for individuals to practice their own pathways to recovery.
