The Carson Leslie Foundation raises funds for pediatric cancer research and supports teens fighting the battle by enriching their lives. The foundation operates three mental health programs that aim to address the struggles of kids in the battle, and delivers signature backpacks to hospitals across Texas. Additionally, as an exclusive nonprofit with a focused research effort on medulloblastoma, the foundation coalesces the medulloblastoma community and collaboratively invests in research for low toxic treatments leading to a cure.

Program areas at Carson Leslie Foundation

Research & Advocacy - We continued to support leading researchers in medulloblastoma. In 2023, we were able to provide significant funding, and garner additional public and private funding, for the work of Dr. Michael Taylor. Recruited to Texas with support from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), Dr. Michael Taylor is now the Director of the Neuro-Oncology Research Program at Texas Children's Hospital and leads the research team focused on identifying and preventing medulloblastoma. We also continued encouraging collaboration and advocacy by holding the annual Golden Toast, where we gathered over 100 individuals among our legislative leaders and the childhood cancer community to celebrate our unstoppable, collaborative, and global movement benefiting the overall state of childhood cancer.
Mental Health Support - We continued to distribute our signature Jordan Spieth Family Foundation-sponsored backpacks, delivering over 100 backpacks to pediatric hospitals across Texas, in addition to many individual children battling cancer who we came to know through our programs and supporters. We also continued to brighten the day of hundreds of kids undergoing cancer treatment at Children's Medical Center Dallas, through our specially-curated gift packages (known as our Hearts of Gold Hootenannies). Every month, we delivered 48 packages filled with items for fun and comfort - one for each room on the pediatric cancer floor.
