Program areas at Cat Action Team
Trap-neuter-vaccinate-return program: In 2023, Cat Action Team TNVR'd a total of 834 cats and kittens: 493 females and 341 males. The 91 kittens and cats in the foster-to-adopt program who were spayed or neutered are included in these numbers.
Pet retention/colony maintenance program: In 2023, we continued our monthly food drives at local pet-food stores plus individual donations of food which was distributed to people feeding colony cats. In addition, Cat Action Team spent approximately $23,270 buying/distributing food. Medical costs amounted to approximately $34,750. We assisted approximately 65 households and over 400 cats.
Foster/Adopt Program: In 2023, Cat Action Team took in and fostered 104 kittens and cats with the help of 31 foster homes. In addition, 9 cats & kittens were in foster care from 2022. All kittens and cats in the foster-to-adopt program receive veterinary care, vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. The number of cats and kittens in the foster-to-adopt information is reported to the Virginia Department of Agriculture annually.
