Program areas at Center for Change a Northern MI Advocacy
We continued our Michigan High-Speed Internet (MIHI) initiative from prior year, as well as various other miscellaneous outreach programs conducted, marketed and executed throughout the year.
We provided community education at school board meetings to increase public awareness of what was happening relative to emerging issues involving library books, LGBTQ+, and similar issues
The Big Party at LSSU Cisler Center in May 2023 focused on having conversations across political/partisan divides featuring a panel of Democratic and Republican office holders (former and current) as well as LSSU Political Science professor Melissa Shaffer OConnell. The Sharon Kennedy award was created in recognition of outstanding civic engagement and was given to Heidi Witucki.
Center for Change representatives connected with other organizations involved in rural America during a national conference in Missoula Montana.
