Program areas at Center for Courage and Renewal

Core Programs: Our core programs are educational programs that give people an opportunity to deepen their understanding of our Courage & Renewal? approach, learn skills that build relational trust and support people showing up with greater integrity in their lives and work, and that help further our mission by bringing our approach into the world in various ways. In FY 22-23, we held five Foundations in the Courage & Renewal Approach online program that served 186 participants from more than ten countries. We successfully piloted two versions of our new Courage & Renewal Practicum program ? one onsite and one online ? with a total of 70 participants. Our mission is also served by preparing and supporting facilitators who lead Circle of Trust retreats and other immersive experiences in our Courage & Renewal approach. In FY 22-23 we continued to support the preparation of apprentice facilitators from Australia and New Zealand while preparing to launch a redesigned version of our Courage & Renewal Facilitator Preparation Program in the US in August of 2023. We also continue to support apprentices in previous FPP cohorts from the US, Canada, Europe, and South Africa as well as the mentors who work with them.
Sector Programs: Our sector programs provide communities of reflection and practice for leaders in a variety of fields including: education, non-profits, business, healthcare, human services, and religion to support their efforts to work within their communities and professions from a place of greater integrity in ways that are life-giving and renewing for themselves and the people they serve. This year we continued Flourishing in Ministry programs with a focus on serving Black, Indigenous, People of Color clergy and ministry leaders with a 16-person pilot of Still We Heal. We also moved forward with plans to offer circles of trust for Korean-speaking ministry leaders. A Healing the Heart of Higher Education conference hosted by CCR served over 115 educators and leaders. Our network of Courage & Renewal facilitators offered sector-specific programs and cross-professional programs, including Courage to Teach? and Courage to Lead?, which engaged new participants and alumni around the world. We also continued to expand the resources offered on our website including creating a new hub for exploring A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey Toward an Undivided Life by Parker J. Palmer.
Courageous Communities of Practice: We offer our network of facilitators who have completed our FPP program the opportunity to participate in an active and supportive learning community called the Facilitator Collaboration. CCR supports the Collaboration in numerous ways that include providing community infrastructure, tools for communication and idea sharing, community gatherings, and programs and/or resources for ongoing development and learning. In FY 22-23, we significantly expanded the access that people have to connecting in communities of practice with the launch of a CCR Community membership which creates opportunities for program participants and others in our world-wide network to connect with others in the Courage & Renewal ecosystem. Both facilitator and community members can now access our new online community platform, join sector or affinity-specific groups, self-organize, and receive support and encouragement. In the design of the platform, the ways people are invited to join, and sliding-scale fees, we are seeking to lower the barriers to accessing resources, and creating new ways to build a trustworthy community for the long haul.
