Rivers - streamsweepers is an award-winning, statewide river restoration, training, and work experience program for college-aged young adults and veterans. In 2023, streamsweepers continued working to restore the biodiversity of the clinch river while providing meaningful work experience to residents of southwest Virginia. Over the past four years, sweepers removed over 9,780 tires and 90 tons of trash & debris from 60 miles of the clinch river. Also in 2023, a maintenance sweep was planned on 20+ miles of the rapidan river in central Virginia, which was previously cleaned in 2015. However, drought conditions made water levels too low to travel the river and the sweep was delayed to 2024.
Southern Climate restoration solutions - a new program which develops natural solutions for carbon dioxide removal in the southeast us, working with landowners and other Partners to identify unique landscapes that with proper management can provide meaningful restoration of the carbon, nitrogen, and water cycles our world depends upon. The program includes a new project to build carbon farming monitoring capacity to sequester atmospheric carbon in southeast us agricultural soils as well as methodoligies for use under solar arrays and to research programs to develop market demand for appalachian forestland assets for biofuel and to build a sustainable fuel facility.
Land - soilkeepers provide regenerative landscape management education, advice, and services for residential, estate, farm, and commercial and owners in Virginia.
The rapidan institute - this program was created in 2020 to focus on comprehensive fisheries and floodplain habitat restoration in the rapidan river watershed of Virginia. In 2021, the institute and its Partners performed due diligence and submitted a proposal to the u.s. army corps of engineers' inter-agency review team to modify the old non-functioning power dam in rapidan to enable anadromous fish, such as shad, to return to their spawning grounds upstream. In 2022, American Climate Partners, through its subsidiary acp realty holdings llc, purchased the rapidan dam and adjacent property.
