Program areas at Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund

Campaignscpda's campaigns program organizes campaigns in concert with our network organizations that aim to ensure our communities have access to good schools, affordable housing, quality healthcare, equal opportunity for immigrants, criminal justice reform, greater corporate accountability, a resilient and fair economy, and a robust and responsive Democracy. In 2022, cpda worked with 48 affiliates and other partners to win over 60 policy victories for millions of people at the federal level, and across more than a dozen states.
Canvass networkcpda's canvass program conducts outreach to cpda's base as well as to the membership of affiliates to engage them on key issues and priority campaigns. This program made over 22,000 calls and held nearly 1,576 conversations in 2022, mobilizing over 6,000 action-takers (to sign petitions, phone bank, join a meeting, or turn out to an Action). They also facilitated 35 training sessions with housing organizers on phone banking and canvassing skills with 21 organizers from nine affiliates. This program collaborated with partners on message research and helped organize direct actions and mobilizations calling attention to the right to vote and have your vote counted.
Civic engagementcpda's civic engagement program conducts outreach, education and staff deployment on various electoral and legislative campaigns focused on voter protection and election engagement. In 2022, this program developed and piloted a heat map to guide our civic engagement strategy, prioritizing and deepening support for affiliates in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. In addition, the civic engagement program built a Popular education program that connected attacks on Democracy and the civic power of bipoc communities to the history of resistance. Finally, this program also played an important role in supporting affiliates with getting out the vote in key states during the 2022 elections.
