C-PREP partnered with USDA Natural Resource Conservation, Wind River Development Fund, and Intertribal Ag Council to increase outreach and access to conservation and producer support resources for Native Farmers and Ranchers on Wind River Reservation. (Continued on Schedule O)C-PREP offered the following educational opportunities:- Free food and farm safety certification taught by the Indigenous Food and Ag Initiative- Beginning gardening classes for the community- Seed-starting class with middle school summer school classes- Soil health class for Native ranchers- Tree-planting workshop at Eastern Shoshone Recovery program and White Buffalo RecoveryC-PREP ran Wind River Farmers Market;- Winter market Jan-April- Summer market June-October. 2 markets per week in 2 locations on reservation. - Started youth vendor programC-PREP purchased a 30-acre irrigated property in Fort Washakie, WY, on the Wind River Reservation. This property will become a demonstration farm and educational center that includes a Land-to-School Youth Learning Garden, commercial scale greenhouse, gathering space, and a kitchen in which to teach cooking and food preservation classes. This will allow C-PREP to increase vegetable production in 2024 and develop income-generating activities including selling wholesale produce to the Wyoming Food Bank and reservation schools, and selling affordable vegetable seedlings in the community.
