Program areas at Wonder Institute
THE WONDER LAB: The Wonder Labs are important community spaces. Our main WonderLab includes a digital media lab, a maker space and a robotics lab, and boasts state of the art equipment, including a CNC Router, a 3-D printer, digital filmaking cameras, and a drone. In partnership with the Teton School District, we have over 500 students involved in our robotics program. In addition, the Wonder Institute and the Teton County Library (TCL) have partnered to create a recording studio, a media editing station, and a Wonder Lab maker space at TCL. These partnerships allow the Wonder Institute to increase our reach and accessibility.
TETON COUNTY MODEL UNITED NATIONS: We facilitate high school student participation in the United Nations system simulation, enabling students to play the role of diplomats from countries worldwide with the aim of passing resolutions on pressing global issues.
CIVIC OUTREACH: Wonder Institute offers free engaging and effective education programs including live and virtual speaker programs, the We the People civic education program, and the National Stock Market game.
CREATIVE LEADERS: We provide recognition and financial awards to honor teachers and creative leaders in Teton County, WY. The Educator Awards are awarded each year to teachers that are selected by students graduating from Middle and High School.
GRANT PROGRAM: An important source of funding for arts and education organizations, designed to support creativity, artists-in-residence programs, partnerships to support artists, and creative education. Since the inception of this program, 193 grants have been awarded to over 67 artists and organizations, reaching 83,000 community participants. It is a seed-fund that nurtures creative leadership and visions.
LIVE PERFORMANCE: The Live Performance Fund underwrites the cost to send Teton County School District students, grades K-12, to a live arts performance each year at the Center for the Arts. For many students, the Live Perforamance initiative is their first exposure to an arts performance.
