Program areas at CANDO

In 2023 CANDO strengthened cross-neighborhood partnerships, investing time and energy into the South Minneapolis Antiracism Coalition (SMAC) to create a new culture of collaboration and organizing in the spirit of undoing racism. CANDOs flagship program Plant-Grow-Share completed its 9th season, hosting 25 participants that built raised garden beds, attended classes, shared produce with the community and cooked meals together over the fire. 2023 also saw the closing Hosmer Community Garden to accommodate new development in the neighborhood and reinitialized urban agriculture outreach out of Bryant Community Garden - moving soil, plants and people along the way. Partnering with Phelps Park, Plant-Grow-Share hosted its annual harvest festival in the fall, celebrating a successful season with the community.
