Workforce Development Strategy, July 2023 to June 2024 - Started Economy community listening meetings. During this time COPA launched a Workforce Development Strategy to create a workforce intermediary project with a goal of listening to 5000 community members. Over 800 community members participated in community meetings so far.
Housing community meetings, January 2024-May 2024, 125 participants: COPA has been actively working in housing. In Santa Cruz County COPA leaders held a public conversation of community members with city officials to get agreements of local housing efforts. Later, COPA co-led a housing conversation in Monterey with community members and clergy to teach about the potential development of housing in church properties.
Organizing Training, August 2023-May 2024: COPA has a lot of new leaders who are just entering public life and community organizing. This is fantastic! But it means we need to do more teaching. Starting in late August we had a leaders retreat where we launched a series of training on organizing from house meetings to how to lead a meeting or how to have a conversation based on interests. This has been a mix of 3-part series and single training across two counties and engaged about 200 people.
