Program areas at Central States Communication Association
Annual professional convention - the organization hosts a convention within the 13 midwestern States belonging to the Association (north dakota, south dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio) to promote the Communication discipline in education, scholarly and professional endeavors.
Professional recognition awards - csca is one of the top regional organizations in promoting all levels of scholarship and sponsors numerous outstanding research awards. In addition, because csca recognized that there are varying types of scholarships and many stages in an academic's life, the organization also presents teaching awards as well as service awards.
Publication of journals and newsletter - primary journals and frequencies of publication are as follows: (1) Communication studies (every 2 months) this journal is a refereed journal publishing articles on a wide range of Communication research. The goal of the journal is to publish the best Communication scholarship representative of the range of research within the disipline. All methods of scholarly inquiry into Communication are welcome, including but not limited to rhetorical analysis, cultural studies, content analysis, media studies, health Communication, family Communication, critical studies, survey research, etc. (2) the journal of Communication pedagogy (annually) this journal is a peer-reviewed journal sponsored by the Central States Communication Association.
