Program areas at Central Texas Hospitality House

The Hospitality House ministers to families of inmates that are incarcerated at one of the prison units in Gatesville, TX. Volunteers at the Hospitality House provide meals and refreshments, children's activities, and counseling as needed. In 2022, 315 volunteers worked a total of 601.5 hours at the facility. They hosted 319 day guests, and provided overnight facilities for 536 guests. The organization received and dispensed countless donated items such as food, drinks, cleaning supplies, paper products and books to the guests at no charge to them.Overnight shelter is provided free of charge for families who travel over 250 miles and have permission for a special four hour weekend visit with their incarcerated loved one. The facility includes 10 private bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, laundry, shower room and an indoor/outdoor children's play area. It also provides a designated office space and workday use apartment for the manager. Volunteers contact the families during the year to check on them and offer prayer and support for the inmates, families and prison staff.Volunteers participate in several community activities such as National Night Out and Exchange Club, as well as speak at local churches to bring awareness to this ministry and the services that are offered. This year an Open House was held for the community.
