Permit/regulatory advocacy (pra) special project: provided technical and legal support for the organization's ongoing efforts to improve wastewater permitting and policy development. The financial resources of the pra special project have enabled the organization to undertake a level of technical, regulatory, and legal advocacy that has proven both necessary and effective in addressing complex issues facing Central Valley wastewater treatment agencies. Major focus areas have included nutrients, sanitary sewer system general order, toxicity provision, cost of compliance, and development of various objectives
Toxicity project -the state adopted a new policy to implement toxicity provisions in permits. Because the variability of one toxicity test species used by many cvcwa members was in question, cvcwa financially contributed to and actively participated in a statewide ceriodaphnia study during the fiscal year to see if the reliability of the testing procedures could be improved.
Regulatory/executive officer: eo worked on behalf of organization's members on permits and policies impacting its members. Achievements included outreach and participation with members to convey comments on regulatory matters, work with stakeholders including Clean Water partners to address regional and statewide issues, and work with regulatory agencies to ensure that regulations are protective of human health and the environment while reasonable and cost effective
