Cvabe is an organization of students, community members and teachers in Washington, orange, and lamoille counties of Vermont committed to developing, evaluating, and providing accessible literacy instruction for adults and teens in the belief that a literate person has the essential key to self-understanding and for full and active membership in the world. Central to the mission is involving the entire community in encouraging students efforts. Cvabe teacher community coordinators and more than 65 trained volunteers work with 400-500 adults and teens annually. Services include Basic skills Education: reading, writing, math and financial and Basic computer literacy; english language learning and preparation for u.s. Citizenship; high school diploma and ged credential programs; academic skill readiness for work, technical training and/or college.
