Adult education - our vision is to build a sustainable, thriving gathering place that supports the whole person where everyone is welcome. Cli celebrates our clients' successes when they acquire english skills through our english as second language (esl) program, graduate from high school by obtaining their high school equivalency test (hiset) certificate or become us citizens after participating in our us naturalization classes. Adult education also includes financial literacy classes in partnership with bridges out of poverty and veridian credit union, hosting americorps rise members who learn how to effectively engage in a business setting and entrepreneurship classes where individuals and families learn business strategies to begin their own businesses.
Financial stability and community outreach family support services - with 20 years of service, Centro Latino of Iowa (cli) continues to support the hispanic community of southwest Iowa to gain equitable access to local social and economic opportunities for advancement. Cli provides culturally competent and language accessible resource navigation and case management services. Our community outreach and advocacy continue to provide direct support to families through intense help with navigating the social systems through the following: filling-out applications, setting-up appointments, translating documents, interpreting during interviews, and making and follow-up referrals. Organizations approached include local government and non-profit agencies such as the department of human services (medicare, ssi, dhs), the municipal housing authority, pottawattamie county health department, pottawattamie county clerk, Iowa workforce and many other non-profits and collaborative partners.
