Program areas at CP of NYS
Residential services - we provide a comprehensive community living service program for people in New York city, putnam, nassau, and rockland counties with developmental disabilities, affording them the opportunity to live in an apartment or group home. Specialized living arrangements are available for individuals who also have chronic health conditions. The organization has 596 people living in 125 residences certified as individual residential alternatives (ira) and 210 who live in fifteen residences certified as intermediate care facilities (icf). Article 16 - the department of rehabilitation supports the needs of our individuals and staff within our residential and day programs in physical occupational and speech therapies throughout New York city and hudson valley. The department also provides training to staff on activites of daily living, ambulatation, and specialized basis. Our goals are to maintain individuals' functional skills within their homes and be an active part of their communities. If this is not feasible, adaptive equipment will be implemented, thus enabling the individuals a level of independence outside of the residential and day programs. (see schedule o for continuation)
Day services - our day services provide an inclusionary program where people are integrally involved in their community and offered an array of services individualized to meet each person's unique needs. The programs include opportunities for more than 1,000 people to participate in educational and mobility activities, community based outings, including volunteer opportunities at community sites and participation in unique gardening and art projects.
