Program areas at Changing Expectations Corp
The Computer Science for All (CSforALL:RPP) project is designed to study and increase African-American and Hispanic students with disabilities'interest, engagement, learning, knowledge, and persistence in computer science education (CS) and careers. The study will employ quasi-experimental methods to investigate the effects of activities on district CS policies and implementation. Changing Expectations will leverage its existing network of teachers in the Changing Expectations WeTeach_CS computer Science Collaborative, practitioners in Texas school districts, special educators, researchers and evaluators to form the Student with Disabilities in Computer Science Research Alliance (SWDCS)
The STEM program provides the highest impact computer coding programs to inspire Black and Hispanic youth to pursue computer science learning. This program is designed to study and increase Black and Hispanic students interest, engagement, learning, knowledge, and intentions to persist in STEM and computer science education and careers, including artificial intelligence, VR, and cybersecurity.
Developed with support from the National Science Foundation(NSF), the MY Brother's Keeper(MBK) Coding Makerspace will be provided for 10 Black male secondary school students to learn about artifical intelligence (AI) profects for social justice. The secondary students will earn an IBM digital badge that demonstrates understanding of creating voice chatbots by leveraging IBM Watson. Then, teams will design voice-enabled chatbot projects to solve social justice in computing problems.
