Program areas at Channel Islands Maritime Museum

In 2023, the Channel Islands Maritime Museum (CIMM) experienced a dynamic and eventful year while it continued its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. 2023 was marked by an increase in rotating art exhibitions, community events, and educational initiatives. Events such as the 24th Annual "Celebration of the Whales" in March, involved a community mural project, learning activities, and performances highlighting the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale. Another notable event was the "Art Comes Alive" program, an interactive experience that featured live reenactments of historic maritime figures and local Ventura County personalities, creating a vibrant, immersive experience for visitors of all ages. In 2023, visits to the museum remained free to children and CIMM leadership focused on growing education program visits, ensuring that maritime history and science were accessible to local students. We are thankful to all our donors and contributors. Their generosity funded many of our programs and the majority of visits from schoolchildren to our museum.
