Charlottesville Ballet (cb) is a professional Ballet company, dance academy, and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Charlottesville, va. Founded in 2007 with a unique mission for dancer wellness, cb is the only full-time professional dance company in the area, and is the resident dance company of lynchburg at the academy center of the arts. The professional company is comprised of dancers from all over the united states and abroad. Charlottesville Ballet academy (cba), the official training school of cb, opened in july 2011 and is a non profit center for dance education serving over 600 students. Cba offers training in all dance genres for ages two through adult and offers performance opportunities for young dancers alongside the professional company. "cb moves" is the outreach component of Charlottesville Ballet that provides free programming for members of our community. Cb moves includes 1) chance to dance (c2d), an after-school program for grades k-5 that gives underserved children hands-on experience with the arts, 2) movement for parkinson's, free weekly dance classes for people diagnosed with parkinson's disease and their care partners, 3) silver swans, free weekly dance classes for seniors, 4) once upon a Ballet, free performance events throughout the community by our professional dancers, and 5) adaptive dance classes for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
