Program areas at Chaska Education Association

Cea partners with eastern carver county schools to administer q comp program of mn dept. Of Education. It is a voluntary program that allows local districts and exclusive representatives of the teachers to design and collectively bargain a plan that meets the five compnents of the law. The five compnents under q comp include career ladder/advancement options, job-embedded professional development, teacher evaluation, performance pay, and an alternative salary schedule (cea/eccs have only pay for performance salary schedule in mn).
A teacher dvelopment and training plan (also exceeding mde standards) is another collaboration between cea and eastern carver county schools. The success of these programs is perhaps a highlight of our recent program year. We provide teacher training including, but not limited to summer academy, new teacher luncheon, support for new teachers and mentors, financial literacy benefits training, membership rights training, grants, support for dist. 112 foundation, a scholarhip program for graduating seniors, leading together and courage to teach retreats allowing teachers to see ways to renew and sustain their work.
