Chicago Jobs Council is a coalition of community-based training organizations, advocacy groups, businesses and individuals working toward ensuring access to employment and career advancement opportunities for people living in poverty. Since 1981, CJC’s membership has grown to include over 100 organizations and individuals. Through collaboration, advocacy, applied research, and capacity building, we work with our members to influence the development and reform of public policies and programs designed to move people into the workforce.

Program areas at CJC

The organization's work both informs and is informed by the experience of the field. It recognizes that successful policy reform can only help entry level workers and those with barriers to employment if providers and other stakeholders on the ground have strong capacity.
Public policy: improve the quality and accessibility of local , state and federal workforce development systems in Chicago, Illinois and beyond, and the capacity of providers within the system, to support job seekers with barriers to employment and low-wagesincome workers in their pursuit of quality employment.
