Program areas at Chickahominy Indian Tribe
The Chickahominy Indian Tribe Inc hosted their annual pow-wow. The pow-wow is open to the general public. The purpose is to educate the public about the rich history and cultural experiences of the Chickahominy Tribe, and its current contributions to society.
The organization is making renovations to the tribal center. Members are making donations to defray the costs.
The organization donated funds to the Chickahominy Indian Tribe for payments on the loan obtained for the purchase of tribal land.
Chickahominy Indian Tribe Inc has a program to create a repository for tribal documents. The purpose is to gather, catalog, preserve and store original tribal documents. The organization is collecting and cataloging public historical documents that reference the Tribe. To enhance the tribes genealogical database, they are populating membership files.
During the year the organization awarded scholarships to 7 students.
United way contributions are used 100% for our elder program. Approximately 60 elders attended monthly programs about health, insurance and other issues that confront them. They are fed and given handouts covering topics such as, exercise, nutrition and home safety. Meals are delivered to shut-ins and their care-givers. Transportation is provided to those who need it.
The organization presented cultural events for thanksgiving and for veterans day.
The Chickahominy Indian Tribe Inc donated funds to the american foundation for suicide.
There was a minimal amount of funds remaining in the organizations ana grant program account. The only expenditures were for bank service fees.
