Program areas at Childbirth Connection
Policy:the transforming maternity care partnership was formed to accelerate health system change towards a high-quality, high value maternity care system. Childbirth Connection brought together more than 100 health care leaders - from delivery systems, providers, and consumers to health plans and purchasers, liability insurers and quality experts - to develop two direction-setting policy focused reports, "2020 vision for high-quality, high-value maternity care system" and "blueprint for action." These reports and other extensive resources are available at httptransformchildbirthconnection...
Advocacy:childbirth Connection works to increase awareness about the need to improve the quality and value of maternity care. We reach women and the general public through social media outreach and collaborate with leading national organizations as well as seek collaborations with the like-minded national organizations to improve maternity care.
Research:childbirth Connection conducts original research, both independently and corroboratively, to broaden the scope of knowledge on childbearing women and the maternity care system. For example, our reports listening to mothers i, listening to mothers ii, and new mothers speak out represent the first time at a national level that women in the united states were surveyed on their maternity and post-partum experiences. These reports have been widely used to inform research, education, policy and practice.
