Program areas at Children of the Setting Sun Product

Salmon people project: cssp has embarked on a journey to tell the story of the ancient bond between the native people and salmon. We are building awareness of how this disconnect has led to broken treaty promises and a devastating loss to native americans. This is a multifaceted effort of research, gatherings, and a documentary series that will help accelerate the work of native-led movements by highlighting tribal communities with their history, culture and values.
Ach: Children of the Setting Sun was contracted to produce a set of 10-15 videos that highlight successful healthcare programs in tribal communities in the north sound region of Washington state. These videos will be shared with a network of healthcare professionals to create a better understanding of how to provide healthcare services to tribal members more successfully.
Setting Sun institute: cssp hosts opportunities for the community to come together to share stories, educate others and inspire change. 2022 community stories included publishing the book, jesintel, living wisdom from coast salish elders, hosting a community-wide mother earth day celebration, a treaty day film festival and advance preparations for a large gathering of salmon people.
Other programs include: young tribal leaders program, a cultural and professional skills education program. Young and indigenous podcast, 16 episodes of interviews on topics impacting indigenous youth. Community projects, organizing and recording a variety of indigenous projects, events and gatherings.
