Program areas at Childrens Action Alliance
Arizona children and families saw key wins in 2023 all of which were priorities for Childrens Action Alliance. KidsCare, the states Childrens Health Insurance Program, expanded eligibility to include more low income working families, and a nurse home visitation program was created to serve first time, low income parents. Lawmakers overwhelmingly supported ending the practice of benefits mining, which allowed the state to seize the social security benefits of children in the foster care system to offset the costs of their care. The K12 Schools Expenditure Aggregated Limit AEL, which caps already allocated public school funding, was raised for the 23 24 school year. This temporary fix avoided a school funding nightmare for one more year while we keep working on a permanent solution. Our work is about real Arizonans children, parents, caregivers, and individuals who should be able to expect equitable access to high-quality health care, early learning and education, child well being services, and essential public services that will support them in tough times. Our ability to advocate on behalf of these Arizonans is because of your dedication and support. Together, we can help change Arizona and create a state where every child and family can thrive.
