Program areas at Children's Museum of Phoenix
The Children's Museum of Phoenix mission is to engage the minds, muscles, and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. With a focus on early childhood education and development for children birth to ten years, the Museum provides hands-on exhibits and programs that encourage physical, emotional, and cognitive development. To ensure that all children in our community can visit the Museum, the Children's Museum of Phoenix aims to provide free or reduced admission access to approximately 75,000 people each year through the every child program. This program allows low-income or at-risk children and families to access the Museum's rich learning environment and experience programs and exhibits that reach out to any audience. This fiscal year the Museum is proud to have welcomed a total of 87,782 visitors through the every child program for a total value of $838,423. In november, our 14th annual Children's Museum gala night at the Museum was attended by 300 guests who enjoyed dinner under the stars, an exciting live auction, dancing, and a silent disco after-party. Night at the Museum raised $286,000 in support of our every child program. On march 25, 2023, 2,163 guests enjoyed our community event, sandfest, where we turned our north parking lot into a beach! 10 local companies participated in a sand-sculpting competition led and judged by sandguys international. Proceeds from the event supported our every child program. In our continuing commitment to idea (inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility), the Museum was honored to feature special artists such as fiesta mexicana dancers, etsitty group pow wow dancers, and sampradaya dancers of india to celebrate diverse cultures with our guests. We also had the pleasure of displaying the artwork of local artists aileen martinez celebrating hispanic heritage month, damian jim & john rodriguez for native american heritage month, derrick snead & kenneth elliott webb for black history month and nancy chong for asian american/pacific islander month. The Museum's total attendance grew by 46% over the previous year. All in all, the Museum welcomed over 366,000 visitors during fy 22-23, marking our highest attended year since opening in 2008.
