Mainstage: our 2023 mainstage Musical production was the wizard of oz. This was a five week Musical Theatre intensive in which a cast of 55 students, ages 7-17, work with a professional artistic staff to put on a full scale broadway show, complete with elaborate sets, costumes, intricate lighting design, and live orchestra. This show had the additional feature of theatrical flying for 11 cast members, with zfx flying providing equipment, rigging, flight choreography , and training. The cast is selected through a competitive audition process from students who live within a 40 mile radius of Bartlesville, ok. cmt hires a professional artistic staff to serve as director, music director, choreographer, and conductor. These industry professionals provide a high quality educational experience for cast members, while exposing them to varied production processes, and ensures fair and unbiased casting. There is no charge for this program.
Stage school: the goal of cmt's stage school is to offer training classes in each discipline of Musical theater-actin, music, and dance, so that students increase competency in each area. Classes are designed to build on one another and students will achieve specific learning objectives in each 12-16 week session. Each member of our stage school staff is experienced in their discipline and is trained to recognize students' abilities and challenge them to reach the next level of their craft. Stage school provides students with the opportunity to hone their performance skills and grow in teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and self confidence.
Summer camps: cmt held two summer camps this year. The first camp was finding nemo, jr. It was three weeks long and was open to children ages 6-16. 50 children participated. Summer camps give the students skills in performing, communication, self-confidence, production process, organization, and teamwork.
Spotlite: a special program on Theatre, lessons in Theatre education (spotlite) is a tuition free, in classroom theater enrichment program that reaches every 4th grade student from local public, private, and homeschool groups in Bartlesville during the month of october. During the pandemic, this program was suspended, due to the inability of having the outside teacher, an Oklahoma arts council artist-in-residence in the school. We produced a video series by the same instructor, which was used in the classrooms. The video was supplemented with specific lesson plan activities to follow each of the five videos, which were implemented by the classroom teacher. The program introduces students to improvisation, nonverbal communication, and the structure of stories. On the final week, the 4th grade students attend a live performance of the missoula Children's Theatre production.
