Tenant worker center (twc) - workers rights outreach and wage clinic conducts outreach and educates low-wage immigrant workers about san francisco and California labor laws including minimum wage and paid sick leave. The program also provides consultation on workplace violations and referral to legal and other support services. Twc also engages workers in leadership development training and political education to develop their capacity to organize to win better living and working conditions. Twc equipped over 10,000 workers with local and state labor laws knowledge and tools to exercise their rights and provided consultations to over 100 workers.
The civic engagement program is a structured voter education and mobilization program to engage youth and adult leaders, promote civic participation, and build a Progressive voice for low-income and working-class Chinese immigrants in local, statewide, and national politics.
Youth mojo (movement of justice and organizing) develops the leadership of working-class Chinese/ asian american high school youth to engage in their communities through issue analysis, leadership development, and hands-on organizing. In 2023, youth mojo engaged over 60 youth in summer and school year programs. Youth apply their skills by leading campaigns and projects that uplift youth voices and create institutional changes that invest in youth wellness and governance in schools.
The community healing & solidarity program engages, educates, and organizes working-class communities of color to develop class-based interventions and alternatives to public safety. Over 150 community members engaged in political education, intergenerational and cultural exchanges, and restorative justice training to have generative dialogue around safety, healing and solidarity. Chs also builds strategic multi-racial alliances to respond to community needs around violence, safety, healing, and accountability while strengthening regional and national grassroots capacity to collaborate and coordinate on narrative and policy strategies.
