Program areas at Christian Crossings Thrift Shop
Giving furniture, appliances, household items, clothing to those in critical need as referred to us by social service agencies and churches. We give, for free, over 3,000 items each year to between 250 and 300 individuals and families who can not afford even our nominal prices.
We give financial assistance on behalf of individuals and families that are in crisis situations (security deposits, rents, utilities, medical costs, mortgage payments, etc) and to programs that are designed to keep persons and families from getting into crisissituations. So as to assure, as much as possible, that the assistance we give is truly helpful and does not simply enable inappropriate behavior to continue, we do not make any decisions with regard to financial assistance, but rely on the screening and recommendations of social service professionals in teh county health department and the county community action agency.
We accept donations of items of furniture, appliances, household items, books, toys, clothing, etc., from the public. We sort, cleanwhen required, and price the items and then offer them for sale at nominal prices at our Thrift store, Christian crossing Thrift Shop. Our customers are primarily, but not exclusively, those of limited means. We had over 24,000 customer sales to and estimated 2,200 different individuals and families.
