At that time, CHHDFC ceased operations and has remained inactive ever since.The Bowery Mission Transitional Center is designed to transition formerly homeless men into independent living. Residents participate in counseling, addiction recovery, career education, and training at our on-site career center as well as job search, employment, savings, and transition into independent living. 77 men can participate in the program at one time, living in single-room occupancy units.Since it opened in January 1994, The Bowery Mission Transitional Center has helped more than 1,600 men move out of the New York City shelter system. Since 1999, the Transitional Center has consistently ranked among the City's most effective substance abuse providers, measured by percent of target housing placements achieved in the Department of Homeless Services rubric of criteria. In FY 2017, The Bowery Mission Transitional Center had 55 men move from homelessness into independent living. The Department of Homeless Services contract ended on June 30, 2017. Management does not intend to renew the contract with the New York City Department of Homeless Services going forward and instead will fund the organization through contributions.
