Program areas at Christian Hospital Foundation
Patient support: the Christian Hospital Foundation serves as the link between the Hospital and the community. We supported programs such as the Christian Hospital's community health access program designed to address the social determinants of health preventing people from wellness. In addition, we provide life-saving medications and medical transportation to uninsured and underinsured patients.
Community service/outreach: the Christian Hospital Foundation is located in a food swamp. As a result, we arranged for operation food search to bring resonably priced fresh produce to our patients, staff, and community members in the summer months. During the fall, we provided community flu shots to our neighbors to keep them well and prevent unnecessary admissions to the Hospital. We also provided resources to support smoking cessation classes.
External community grants : the Christian Hospital Foundation provided support for the operation of two school-based health centers located within two high schools in north saint louis county. In addition, we believe in meeting people where they are. Therefore, we support community health fairs at local churches in the Christian Hospital service areas. To build the next pipeline of healthcare leaders and support the well-being of our community, we provide scholarships to high school students living in the communities we serve.
The Christian Hospital Foundation is committed to building healthy communities. In an effort to support patients who have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, we provide education starter kits loaded with tools to help manage the disease. The Foundation also provided minor equipment for patient transportation within the Hospital and employee engagement programs.
