Program areas at Cincinnati Youth Choir
General Choir Program - Provide quality choral music education programs for all youth with musical performances around Greater Cincinnati, along with national and international touring. Approximately 325 children were served through a portfolio of 5 resident choirs and our VIVO choirs at 5 locations. Finally, CYC manages the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) Honor Choir program, an annual program that typically consists of 80+ CPS students, from 23+ different CPS schools. This free opportunity has CPS students combine forces with and performing alongside the CYC award-winning Bel Canto Choir in concert. Youth Honor Choir served 24 students and gave them an opportunity to work with a guest conductor and our Artistic Director along with being mentored by older resident choir members.
Singabration Summer Festival Program - Children participate in a week of choral music education and performance at a festival held at the University of Cincinnati. Approximately 90 participants have an opportunity to learn from prominent clinicians and develop camaraderie with peers from the community.
Cincinnati Choral Academy - A free, during and after-school program offering comprehensive music literacy and choral education to 123 Cincinnati Public School (CPS) students in grades 3-6. These students rehearse twice per week for two-hour sessions. Cincinnati Choral Academy is currently in-residence at 6 CPS Schools, with student attendance numbers on the rise.
Queen City Choir Festival - Typically 4 to 6 children's choirs from across the country are hosted by the CYC's Con Brio choir for a three-day festival held at the University of Cincinnati. The Queen City Festival features choral education, performances and activities around the Greater Cincinnati area. For FY24, due to low registrations, Queen City Choir Festival was cancelled.
