Cinema St Louis culturally enriches St. Louis by showcasing the best in international, documentary, and American independent cinema. Believing that when we learn more about others' cultures and perspectives, we discover something about ourselves, CSL programs aim to promote diversity and understanding through film. The organization hosted the 30th annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) both in person and online from Nov. 4-21, 2021 with a total estimated viewership of 21,646, including 11,564 St. Louis-area students who participated in their free Cinemathque screenings.

Program areas at Cinema St Louis

For more than 30 years, Cinema St. Louis (csl) has served as the region's go-to arts nonprofit for educating and inspiring audiences of all ages through film. Annually, the organization hosts the St. Louis international film festival (sliff) included among usa today's 10 best "film festivals worth traveling to" as well as the St. Louis filmmakers showcase, qfest St. Louis, and the robert french film festival. In addition, Cinema St. Louis seeks to engage younger audiences, exposing them to the possibilities of becoming filmmakers through free hands-on filmmaking camps and screenings through Cinema for students.
In 2023, csl acquired the historic hi-pointe theatre to provide a consistent venue for high-quality film programming, expand education opportunities, and offer local filmmakers an affordable showcase. Additionally, it attracts nationwide visitors for events, serves as a rental venue, honors members and volunteers, and celebrates film as cultural art through themed series and festivals.
